• Queens Hall Low Carbon project

The Queens Hall Low Carbon Project, which is as you may know,is to equip the community venue with micro generation technology and use it to help people and businesses in the town to cope with the energy reduction we must all acheive as soon as possible, is now 3 months in. So far we have obtained two comprehensive estimates from local companies to install Photovoltaic panels and heat pumps. We applied for a 'Low Carbon Communities' grant, but have not succeeded to obtain that funding, but we have since registered an interest in another fund and await a full application soon.

Better news is that two projects in Pembrokeshire were grant aided from the LCC fund, Lammas project in Glandwr and Cwm Arian in Hermon, two deserving schemes.

After our energy group meeting in Llanfalteg on 24th. January we decided that we needed to publish a flyer to encourage Narberth people to find out their carbon footprints. We chose a double sided A4 in colour and to cover the whole of Narberth we would need 3 thousand copies.Narberth Future Forum agreed to help with the cost via Planed, but planed have so far not agreed with our plans. We are working to change their minds.

We want to work with the schools and member Simon Morgan has taken on the task of fitting our scheme into the format of the national curriculam and creating a plan to take it into the local schools.
Chris Lawrence has agreed to be the phone contact for people who would like help to find their carbon footprint, and we will hold Saturday afternoon help sessions in the Queens Hall after the flyer is distributed.

Anyone else who would like to help with this important project could contact me via this website and I will be happy to fill in the details.

Zero comments? Does that mean that no one cares? I prefer to think that people do care, just a little bit. "Low on our priorities" is it? Well it is high on mine.
How can we call Narberth a transition town if we do not dive in with a major project to actually lower our dependence on fossil fuels. The Queens Hall is not functioning properly to serve the community if it is struggling to survive with a huge consumption of energy. This project would be a catylist sparking a cascade of businesses in the high street and helping people to start micro generation schemes on the houses and flats of the town.
